Strep Throat on Disney's own island: Castaway Cay. I haven't felt this bad in a long long time. Went to the infirmary and Doctor David, who looked a lot like the doctor on Love Boat, was very nice. He gave me penicilin and some other stuff. I can only be active for very short periods of time, and then I slip into some kind of coma. I am gargling salt water, taking losenges, watching Shrek, and showing up at family meals and not saying anything. Mom and Dad are nice, they still care. They came with me when I saw the doctor. I asked mom to come with, because I had just had one of the worst nights of my life. I slept for only 2 or 3 hours with about 12 hours of trying. I was unbearably tired, and then when I would finally fall asleep, I would wake up it was be about 20 minutes after I fell asleep and then pain in my head and throat was terrible and it would keep me up for many more hours. So, with my pitiful voice (I don't sound like I normally do, because the swollen glands, the vocal tones are different) I asked mom to come with me to the cruise ship hospital. They payed the 75 bucks for the doctor. I hope I have enough energy to watch The Royal T-bombs tonight at 10. It is very strange to read people's diaries with whom you are friends with and they are living their lives normal and you are usually part of their normal lives and you like to be, and you are not there. Friends are nice to have. Words have very little meaning unless they are directed to specific things, places, or people. The staff is good at what they do. The staff smiles and chats and it all seems completely sincere. I think they honestly do enjoy their work. They work for 4 or 6 months straight!! No days off. Then they have one or two months off. I have been trying to infiltrate the crew's quarters because I have heard that is where the party is at. Well, I was before I got this sick. Yikes. Tomorrow night, the cold returns and the land doesn't move, and my body sleeps, and work waits for me, but I am not sure if I go. |
